Curt Harris LPC, CST, ADHD-PT
Dayton, Licensed Professional Counselor, Sex Therapist, ADHD Assessment & Treatment Practitioner
When I decided to pursue a career as a therapist I did so because I wanted to make the world a better place, and decided to do that by helping one person at a time. My primary approach to mental health counseling is the person-centered approach. This means I believe that no one knows you better than you know yourself, and it is my job to help you identify goals, improve communication, strengthen self-esteem, and develop solutions and coping skills. During the counseling process, you are in the driver’s seat, I am just a GPS to help you on the road to better mental health. However, I’m not closed to other counseling approaches, If your mental health journey suggests another approach, I’m glad to incorporate that into your sessions. It’s my job to help you to deal with your issues in a safe, non-judgmental, affirming, and effective environment, regardless if that environment is in person or via telehealth. More than one in six adults is living with some sort of mental illness and there need be no stigma in seeking help.
I am eager to work with clients of all types, facing any variety of issues. I have strengths working with clients who have issues with anxiety, depression, teen and adult ADHD, and victims of narcissistic abuse. I am an ASSECT Certified Sex Therapist. I have a focus on all types of sexual issues. including intimacy issues, gender identity, and sexual orientation. I enjoy working with those who identify as sexual minorities including the LBGTQ+ community, the ethical/consensual non-monogamy community, the BDSM/kink community, and others in “non-traditional” relationships, even when the issues you seek to address in therapy aren’t directly related to your sexual identity. I welcome all regardless of how you identify.
